I use to live in California. I was born and raised there. I have seen if go from a conservative paradise, with the exceptions of small enclaves in the bay area and LA to a progressive nightmare that grew like a cancer to strangle the whole state. The turning point was in the 90s. Sane and rational people fled to the central valley, which up until recently had been solidly conservative. But no more. A person who is conservative just cannot abide California anymore. It certainly isnt the place Reagan knew and loved. As far as banning things, I went into Home Depot to buy cargo straps for the move out of California and noticed that they had tagged the wood department as "toxic", The state of California has now determined that lumber, untreated two by fours and such, cause cancer. The state is a lost cause.

No your numbers are to kind. Fertility starts its very rapid drop at 28. The biggest problem is this in never taught to young girls at school. They get told they can push it off, then when they do, reality hits them. Nature doesnt care.

@umiluv Thanks, we got burned out in the Camp Fire. Couldnt rebuild with insurance costs so like most of Butte county we left. Now I have a small farm in Tennessee. I dont take pleasure with what is happening in California and joke about it. I tell everyone im a political refuge. I dont think people really understand what happened in California. They just think Californians are crazy. If only it was just that.

@BaldorfBreakdowns The stats people are citing you are from a study that found and massive disparity of the number of males vs the number of females who are having sex in younger demographic cohorts. And it is massive. Womens numbers are steadily rising while mens have crashed more than 50 percent. That basicly women are having more sex, with fewer men. Now I dont think its as extreme as most say it is, "10 percent of men sleeping with 80 percent of women", but I think some may be conflating the studies and also surveys taken by women on dating websites that show that women find 80 percent of men non dateable. If they wont even date them will they even consider them for a sex partner, probably not no? Multiple studies show this including one by Dr. Peter Ueda, a postdoctoral researcher at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, the U.S. General Social Survey up until 2018. Meanwhile sex at middle age has utterly collapse. Single men and women, which there are more than ever due to divorce, are no longer mingling. And these stats are all up to 2018, so cant blame the coof. If you would like more studies, I would be more than happy to tell you them. I totally understand why so many people would be uncomfortable with this data and the evidence it shows. Its damaging to both sides, for different reasons and will effect both men and women in completely different ways. I mean most people dont even see the demographic collapse thats about to happen. People dont understand whats coming.

I had a friend who was a mechanic in the Polish army in the 70s and the 80s. That was when it was communist. He finally made it out of the Eastern Block into Denmark, then to the US. He would tell anyone who would listen that most of Polands forces were paper. That yes they had 30000 tanks but only 2000 operated. He said this was standard for all equipment types. This mindset came from the Russians. So it doesnt surprise me that their equipment is falling apart.

@Karathos I think most people in western nations are oblivious to the amount of graft that occurs in the rest of the world that is considered normal or part of a nations "culture". China is a prime example. I only spent 4 months in Russia on a troop exchange when i was in the Marine Corps, but I saw it even there when the unit I was attached to received its supplies. Everyone had to cough up cash. But this was in the mid 90s. So it was literally the worst time to be in the Russian military.

Where would one find one of these fabled creatures? I am not asking for myself, but for my sons. I dont think most women understand what is about to happen. Most young men are completely disinterested in young women. I'll ask you how many mothers and fathers raise their sons to be good husbands and fathers? Now, how many raise daughters to be good mothers and wives... you cant, thats patriarchy. Feminism and family cannot co exist. One must stay the other must go. @RiskOfBaer the military is already done. It was done along time ago. Its combat effectiveness is in the toilet. Most operations are done by special forces and air strikes for a reason. A legion of single moms can't do much, and when half your unit decides to get pregnant before a deployment and are then considered non deployable what do you do? And then there are the men, fat, out of shape POGs. Utterly useless. And this was in the late 90s, I can only imagine the hell that it is today in 2021.

My family has been in California since after the civil war. I left after the Camp Fire in northern California. Took all my family with me. Only my uncle stayed but he is in his 80s and doesnt want to start over. The progressives ran us from the bay area all the way out to the far north. It was the only place left that was sane. But after the fire, you couldnt afford insurance to rebuild and the state wouldnt let PG&E charge more for insurance so power was rarely on. 34 less Californians. Oh well, they didnt need us hard workers I guess. To see Butte county go from solid red to blue in a year because all the hard workers left, breaks the heart.

I dated a girl in the late 90s when I came back from Japan to the US. We had the body count talk, she said 4. Then a month into the relationship she tells me how she was raped. I am not sure what Hungary you are talking about but their current fertility rate per woman is 1.5. In the UK its 1.7. But it was 1.3 in 2014, in Hungary. Still not replacement levels. Not even close, but still not as bad as South Korea where is a laughable 0.5. Thats 1 in 4 South Korean women having a child. Women are broken. Or maybe men are broken so women arent doing what they normally would.

The farmer in that story must have been the only Ukrainian wheat farmer who didnt plant a winter wheat crop. Winter wheat is planted in the fall goes dormant over winter than then produces in spring. The problem is now is the time you hit it with fertilizer so you increase yields. So even if you stopped fighting now, the Ukrainian winter wheat harvest would be 3 times lower than normal at best. Then you have the fall harvest which gets planted after the winter wheat is harvested. Neither of these can happen without fertilizer which has been effectively shut down. 2 of the three main sources are offline. At best we are going to be short two harvests. At best. I would not want to live in Africa once the fertilizer shipments stop.

Men typically didnt start families until then. Took that long to scrape together enough coin. The 20th century was an aberration. Men typically married women a bit younger than them. Even just a quick genealogy of a persons family into the 17th, 18th and 18th centuries should show this.

@S. The irony of your statement is funny. You give more benefits to people to spend it increases the cost of goods and service they buy, AKA inflation. Then goods and services cost more and the debt you incurred has to be paid back so your people are poorer than they started. People are bashing 20 year olds because typically in the 20th century having kids in you 20s we economically feasible. That has become the standard now even though historically speaking the 20th century is an aberration. And of course they didnt have the massive debt burden killing the economy and the need to live like minor nobles. But at the same time people in their 20s now have a much higher standard of living. In short people value things more than they do other people. As people become less common, that will change. Economics rules everything.

@S. Well for one regulation. I am not sure but coding laws in the US are insane. That creates a supply bottleneck, which creates cost increases. Add city planning to the mix, were certain land is approved for certain types of buildings, leads to a bottleneck, which creates price increase. Take the price of wood. And I am not trying to turn this political, but the Biden Admin levied a doubling of the import tariff on importing of Canadian lumber into the US, this raised the price of lumber. Canada being pissed by this, decreased its output of lumber reducing total board feet. So increased tariffs and lower supply, thats right lumber prices quadrupled per board foot. This raised the price of construction of the average US home by 40k. Would you want to live in a 1960s home? Worse wiring, no dishwasher, no washer and dryer maybe, so technologically have to spend more to bring it up to what is acceptable now. Increases the cost of a home. But there is a bright end of the tunnel. And I know you live in Britain, but I am not at all familiar with your housing markets but I am familiar with your demographics map. So in the US, right now we have 2.8 people for every domicile. After the boomers pass, that will drop down to 2.2 to 2.3. Thats massive. Many places in Europe will see larger drops. You will have massive amounts of empty housing. Which will cause what up until the probably 1960s, when the boomers showed up, for residential housing to return to what it almost always was, a depreciation asset. Meaning its will become cheaper the older it gets, like a car. So if you do have kids, know your child or children will have it easier in that regard. You are already seeing this in Korea and Japan. The demand curve is changing. And if Britain and other western nations stop bringing in foreigners it will collapse markets. And that usually causes governmental change. Also your mortgage laws dont help. The fact that you cant get a pre negotiated rate for an entire term of the mortgage shocked me. I still dont understand how you can sign a mortgage and have it periodically update by the bank. That sounds absolutely predatory and seems designed to keep people renting. So I get that the US and British housing markets are totally comparable.

Respectfully, I dont know many college age virginal women, who arent grossly overweight, and who dont have a ton of baggage due to previous encounters or relationships running around who deserve that kind of treatment. By the time the typical woman is 30, she has so much emotional damage a stable relationship just isnt really possible. And thats why men are generally done. They exist. Its not pretty. Its why 1/4 women are on anti psychotics in the US. The women on anti depressants is even higher. Around 20% of women are on anti anxiety medication. Instead those are being replaced with dinks (dual income no kids) this temporarily boost gdp via production. But has a long term massive economic effect. Since they dont make the next generation, it literally isnt there to consume. Well the west, with the exception the US is now entering it. Dont worry though, the US hasnt been at replacement rates since 1972, but we imported people so we will be right behind you. That said, there will be less demand, then you start a deflationary spiral. You act like African countries birth rates arent dropping. either. They are. We are just a few steps ahead.

@S. In response to your question about a particular couple. I have a myriad of options, none you will probably like. First off, why is the woman wanting to marry a man who cant provide for her if she wants offspring? All throughout the animal kingdom males reproductive ability is based on calories and if he has extra to spare (in humans this would be income basically). Nuptial gifts are common from insects to Apes. There is also a misunderstood truth here, women determine if sex will happen. Men decide if a relationship will happen. Humans are a little more complex than other animals but we still have the basics that most have. This young woman should look to an older man, maybe one in his early to mid 30s. Who is set in his path forward. This of course would mean marrying a man older than you. It is an option though, historically its the one that occurred most. This couple could move closer to their parents for addition support. They could even decide to live in a multi generational home that was common in the 19th century. But being a man is see a huge issue. The man shouldnt be focused on starting a family at that age if he cant find a decent job, he should be busting his ass to find decent work. This couple you speak of is in its predicament because of inappropriate mate selection. But I wouldnt say they are morally corrupt. I very much am enjoying our conversation.

@S. In regards to your post about wages. Minimum wage is the issue. It shouldnt exist. I am sure you have heard the pie making example of the value of labor so I wont repeat it. You should only be paid the value of labor your labor provides your employer. If an employer has to pay you more due to a law, that means the money has to come from somewhere. So the price of the good or service must increase. That causes inflation. That makes everyone poorer and eventually that company will move that production somewhere where the labor cost input is less so they can compete in the market against their competition. This has a negative effect on future earnings of new entries into the job market because there is more competition for less jobs. So the jobs will pay less. And this isnt the 20 somethings fault. Its just the world they were born into. Adaption is key. And maybe part of that adaption is changing the laws. I would disagree with the percentage you account for not having kids. I mean clearly that is the reason you feel you cant afford to have kids, which I totally understand. But most women seem to want one, maybe two, if any at all. Thats not my projections, thats from multiple studies in multiple nations. I mean in Japan, the number one reasons people didnt have kids was because sex was a hassle. That was the literal answer.

@kingrobotnik6950 Women historically leveraged their reproductive capabilities for protection and resources. Male levered their utility and resources to secure mating rights. Things broke down when society became so safe that women feel they no longer have to follow this agreement. And while I agree its a cultural and social issue to the civilizations afflicted with it, its one that is at the core of human biology. As society degrades, and should it become more unsafe, women will again have to enter into this agreement with men. Right now they dont have to.

@S. Its a matter of choice not fault. It doesnt have to be a pejorative. But every choice has a consequence. If a woman wants a man her own age, she will be hard pressed to find one who has made his way in the world. Not only do young men have to compete with other men, they now are forced to compete with women as well. So she may look to one in his 30s or early 40s, will most women your age do that? No, its to stigmatizing. Well thats a choice. These are all unintended consequences to choices. But they are still consequences. When women want kids enough, they will stay home and take care of their own and maybe take care of their neighbors as well. Earn a little coin doing it too. But that would require a change in lifestyle no? Again, its not blame, its not good or bad, its just choices. And every choice, has a consequence. How you view that consequence is up to individual interpretation. And you dont need as much money as you think. But you want that much because you like those things. When you want kids more than you want those things, you might compromise on it. Until then, again, its a choice that has a consequence. I lived in California until last year. Arguably more expensive than Britain. I got married, had 3 sons, and bought 4 different houses. I did it on an income that maxed out at $65k, thats roughly 48.5k pounds. I just want to say I dont blame young people, most are utterly ignorant of basic economic principles because they have never been taught them. If they did they would burn down their respective governments. And lets be honest, most women have been so utterly brainwashed that most dont even think of getting married until maybe 28 and having a kid or maybe two once they are in their early 30s. I dont mean to sound insulting but its stunning how talking to younger women they all parrot the same thing. Yes I am also aware of how utterly stupid a man in his 20s is. I was one several decades ago. But men have the luxury of something women do not, time.

Things are on autopilot. And since there are massive disruptions in the movement of goods and services due to the coof the negative feedback for demand hasnt been seen by businesses yet. They are just assuming its there. But it will be as supply chains are restructured and to everyones shock and horror, they wont need as many workers. Demographers called this out like 2 decades ago. They even stated pretty much universally that 2020 would be the high water point for demand.

The irony is Mexico's fertility rate has fallen from 5 in 1975 to 2.0 today. Thats why few of the immigrants coming across the southern boarder are actual Mexicans anymore. They dont have extra people to export anymore.

No more "free" health care, no more council estates, no more free cash from the Queen. Do you stop having sex? without free birth control how do you keep from getting pregnant? There is this view that men didnt care what happen to their wives. That they were just baby machines to their husbands. As a man I find this laughable. In the US in 1800 the average family had 7 children, half statistically would die. By 1900 the average family had 3.5. What changed? In both cases family size was stable. Ill admit I dont know late 19th and early 20th century British domestic history, but was it really so different there? You are right on the economics though. But and I want to say I cant cover everything in a post because who will read it, A lot of the expense is coming from political policies used to buy votes. A policy, like lets say rent vouchers for the poor, sound like a good thing. But then there is more money and more competition for rental spaces and so guess what happens to prices, they go up. Same when people do it for food. the same with health care. And soon people see it as a right and anyone who comes and says hey I know these policies seem good, but they are causing all these unintended consequences. And they are very quickly called every name in the book and they learn quickly that no one will listen to them. I mean you have done it to me several times. You even think I dont care, when in fact I do. Most of the economic issues of today exist because of the added economic value the last 4 generations have had. If you want to fix it you need to remove those programs. But people dont want to because its their turn to get the free stuff. Its like the doctor who wants to treat a patient but has to cause them a pain. Bitter medicine that the patient does not want to swallow. In the end thats a choice. But when a leg turns black or you get sepsis and die, thats not the doctors fault. its the fault of the patient who refused treatment. Who is blaming 20 year old women for a 100% of what? I am not even following you on that. Can you explain that a bit more please?

Normally, for the US, printing money doesnt cause inflation. The US has a very different economy than most other nations. We import goods and export dollars. Dollar demand in the world is still high. But when the world economy and all the supply chains stopped, America stopped exporting dollars and so they stayed home. At the same time the stimi's and ultra low rates which allowed people to afford more bank loans (which literally creates money out of nothing, fractional reserve banking) created more dollars. The Fed, buying all the mortgage back securities created even more drive for the banks to loan more, creating more dollars. Under a normal running world economy, the inflation would be transitory. But even before Russia invaded Ukraine the world supply chains werent running right. And then there is the whole thing about peak demand from a demographic standpoint world wide happedned in 2020.

And Americans of European decent is kind of a misnomer. Most Hispanic peoples are Caucasian and a large minority are mixed. I am pretty sure in Mexico 60 percent of people identify as Caucasian. If you adjust for the Hispanic population increase and make a rough guestamate the population of Caucasian Americans is only down 5 to maybe 10 percent from its highs. But you are right America was sold a bill of lies with the 65 immigration act. But demographers even then saw what was happening. But America isnt a skin color, its a creed. Our problem isnt that we have people coming in, we have many of the wrong minded people who come on here and immediately get on the dole.

With the fins they have now you can gps them right through a window. Missiles give you the range to stand off so your weapons platform isnt in danger. Thats usually for political means. Drones even reduce that more because you dont risk losing a pilot. The Reaper drones recently became capable of doing that, dropping Mk 82's as well as other gravity bombs. So we should see that more. That will reduce costs drastically.

What a lot of people dont understand that if the US ever cut spending, even by 2%, it would lead to a domestic recession. To cut it by 10 or even 20% would cause a world wide depression. People think about the money printer going brrrr, but most people dont understand how much dollar denominated debt that foreign banks lend to each other and to companies. When you throw in collapsing demographics of western nations we are looking at serious trouble. And it will spill over to developing nations as well. Civilians dont understand the purposes of military games. Its to check your weaknesses, adjust tactics, and make sure your supply can be met. Often games are set up to put a side at an extreme disadvantage. I remember several games where the only purpose was to lose so the officers could know how to deal with tactical and strategic realities of that situation. One of the common traits of American doctrine for the last 70 years is to bypass units that are smaller than company size, 100 men. This shows the folly of that doctrine, something that Marines have known all that time. Lastly, well its a good thing we found this out, the defense dept can now go to congress and ask for a huge increase in the budget. There are so many sides to this its laughable.

Governments need to start tracking and destroying the organizations that pay to move these people around. And then the people who work for those organizations need to rot in prison at best. But I honestly view them as traitors or saboteurs, they should be shot.

Why, we lost every exercise in Cobra Gold in Thailand and Foal Eagle in South Korea. Thats the point of them, to learn from your mistakes. Adjust tactics to new technology and capabilities and makes sure you officers can do what they are suppose to. We had one game in Okinawa where the goal was simply survive as long as you can against the North Korean onslaught. 4th Marines lasted 78 hours. It was a loss on paper, but it only needed to survive 72 hours so the 1st marine division could reinforce Pusan so it was a win to the Corps even though we lost. That said you are putting up Royal Marines, who are more like Green Berets than actual Marines, up against who knows what unit, for all we know they went up against an arty battalion. Also it shows the huge flaw in military doctrine that we have had since WWII that is constantly biting us in the ass, bypassing units smaller than company size (100 men). 100 motivated men can do a lot.

@craigprescott6045 Which is why he have these games. So the officer corp do their job. One of the largest problems we have is the officers not doing what they are suppose to do. Not so much about the enlisted. The fighting itself isnt actually that important.
