@CharlieTheAstronaut The rest of the world doesnt pay higher prices than the US. The places, like in Europe and Japan, who have to import oil do. Then they add taxes on top of it. When the US was oil independent due to better fracking technologies oil prices were some of the lowest they have ever been historically, adjusted for inflation. Either you are ignorant of the economic facts or you have a political axe to grind. Neither is good, but one can be corrected though.

@TwinGoats oil company profit on a gallon of gas sold is about 10 to 15 cents. You are 8 to 10 times to high. The Feds make almost twice as much profit as oil companies on a per gallon basis when you include all the taxes the middle men have to pay to get the gas to the fuel station.

@Lucas-hb1uq Oil in the ground isnt perishable. What are you talking about? Oil companies literally lease the land from the government. They pay the government money. How do you not know this. The government doesnt even set the rate, the companies bid on it. Look at every nation that has nationalized production of any resource or service. Its crap. Thats because without the profit motive no one cares. Its literally becomes the tragedy of the commons. And its not like oil is even a usable item. It has to be refined. You going to nationalize everything. There is a name for those people you know.

@Lucas-hb1uq We arent a democracy we are a republic. As for the rest of what you wrote it doesnt make much sense to me. American oil companies have led to the modern world. You give it to the feds our oil production would end up like Mexicos or worse, Venezuela. The federal government is more corrupt than any corporation could ever dream to be.

@Lucas-hb1uq I see peoples actions everyday. Most people are irresponsible, overly emotional and foolish to the nth degree. Universal suffrage has weaponized ignorance. Its not about classes, its about personal responsibility. Few want to be personally responsible anymore. So they heap all that onto whatever government exists. "Democracy" just lets people feel more comfortable with enslaving themselves because they are supposedly their own master. But its a lie. And yes, I am saying ALL government is bad. Its tyrannical. It limits the best in men. It punishes those who would leave their mark on the world. But it is a needed evil. Because Man is also self interested, and when you take that self interest to an extreme you get things like theft, rape and murder. But we should have the least of it, government, we can. When you make a government a democracy, all of those people who dont want to be responsible end up enslaving themselves because they are foolish. I dont know how otherwise intelligent people cannot see this. But that should show you that there is no link between intelligence and personal responsibility. But whats worse, one cannot chose ones intelligence, but one can chose to be responsible. That screams about most peoples moral character. And why democracy should be feared. Tyrants die, but the mob just breeds.

@Lucas-hb1uq I thought governments were the people? That must mean people want the environment destroyed, no? As for corporations, they are businesses. They want to make money for their shareholders. So their shareholders, being people as well, are responsible. But lets say their greed, their self interest, outweighs their common sense for long term. They are a business. Other people, the public, simple need to no longer buy their product, goods, or services. Then the business can either a) go out of business or b) change their business practice. But guess what that takes on the publics part, personal responsibility. People like you flower up your words and obfuscate. But you are either tyrants in disguise, because you dislike others choices, or are irresponsible who dont want to be held accountable for their actions because it might inconvenience you and you dont want your hands dirty. Or am I missing something?

@BBQ BEER FREEDOM you do understand why right? Do you know how long it takes to get approval to get drilling permits? Environmental approval. Trumps first year was low because those were all the previous admins approvals, as well as various state approvals. Bidens numbers are high because these are the wells that were approved under the previous admin. One thing I will say, that the Obama admins insistence that no more gas be flared from wells is going to protect us from to high of energy prices. The pipelines installed since then, to capture that gas, that cost a small fortune, will supply us with more natural gas than we need. And neither Trump nor Biden pumps oil. They can only clear or obstructed those that do from doing so.

@memyself898 you know less than 8% of crude oil is used to make fuels, both diesel and gasoline. You guys dont even know what the majority of crude oil is used for. Classic useful idiots. You know how much oil goes into making a solar panel? How much goes into making lithium ion batter covers? Didnt think so.
