This is akin to a bookie not taking your money so his muscle can break your legs. This isnt so much to hurt Russia, but to keep the rest of the sheep in line.

@LivingWithGout No they cant. As soon as that money hit US or the Euro zone it will be seized. The only possible way would be to ship the money to an intermediate nation and collect it then. But then the lender would be seen as breaking sanctions.

Technically they didnt destroy them, just shut them down.

They stated there was gas release. The tubes have to be pressurized to keep them from collapsing. Which means that there are structural leaks in those pipes. If they havent collapsed already, they are at risk to do so. But yes, it was a horrible news report. They seemed more interested in stirring up drama then actually explaining the situation.

There are some problems that money and bankers cant solve. Like people blaming other people for their voting patterns.

Nonmi, food doesnt come from the supermarket. You have to grow it. And to grow it you need something called fertilizer. Guess who are the biggest producers of fertilizer?
3
@mathias4851 I mean anyone could have done it. Or the lack of pressure in the pipes could have done it. But more than likely it was one of the players and intentional.

@Exception1 The boomers across the globe will start to age out pretty quick. After that population will fall like a rock. China alone is going to drop 500 million in the next two decades. And if you think African nations can keep growing at the rates they have been once the global trade system breaks down, well, its not something I would want to laugh about.

This just signed Germany's death as a major exporting nation. They are done. Even if the war in Ukraine ends tomorrow, no more gas. And Germany is the major power in the Euro zone. As goes Germany, so does the Euro zone. Who will bail out the PIIGs now?
1
Thats a good question. Something no one even wants to talk about. But if the global trading system is about to fall apart, which seems to be occurring, the Germans need to ask themselves, what do we need to do moving forward to secure our position?
1
These people just wont say it. Not until after the mid terms. We are already in a recession now. When Junes numbers comes out they will lie and then have to have them revised after. Just like the CPI with only a 5.5% housing increase. lol
1
@MarcosElMalo2 Trump told the Germans to their face, and they laughed at him for his trouble. Germans will get everything they deserve. Unfortunately the good will suffer with the fools. But this is the way of the world.
1
@Locke99GS I might accept your position if the US government didnt already make an exception to that. Which it did. Then they let it expire. Which shows they are conflicted about the appropriate path. Which is fine. Like I said, this was done to send a message to the rest of the dollar denominated debt borrowers and lenders out there. Go against the US and this will happen to you. Unfortunately for this administration, every time they try to advance their agenda, they slide two or three steps backward. Eventually, they will be called to task on it.
1
@Locke99GS Who is the US to "punish" another nation. Thats war talk. You people astonish me. This is literally how we got Pearl Harbor.
1
@joycekoch5746 I mean, petro dollar is what it is. A good bookie doesnt lend to dead beats. Which circles back to the main point. The mark has the money, the bookie just wont take it.
1
@Locke99GS You conflate the government with the economy. The economy is just everyone making commerce choices. Again, this is how we got Pearl Harbor. You probably never humped a pack, shot a weapon or chucked a grenade. But fully support a course that could very well cause millions of Americans their lives. There is a word for people like you.
1
@FRANKSNAKE71 We got Pearl Harbor by sanctioning Japan and thinking there would be little to no blow back from it.
1
The worst part is that one day this will be in history books and anyone who reads it will be like, wtf? Were these people retarded? Its like bad star wars fan fiction at this point.
1
@dodobono452 so basically become someones dependent. lol That screams modern Germany.
1
@monolith_g Your statement is comedic.
1
@herrwahnsinn4229 If the pipes were functional they might very well could. But if they are permanently damaged, well, that changes the equation then doesnt it? Even if the war ended tomorrow and the Russians made nice to everyone, no more gas. How long did it take to build those each? And it wasnt US posturing, it was the Biden admin. There is a large difference.
1
@eberkovich Germany lies about its renewables. It has to keep all the power plants it does still have, which are lignite running and just doesnt count them when the sun is up. It gets 7% of its electricity from renewables. And they had to build 155% of its total energy need in solar and wind to do it. It was the 2nd stupidest thing Germany has every done, right behind electing a guy with a funny mustache. And none of those renewables are usable in the German chemicals sector. Germany, as an exporting nation, is dead. And the Greens killed them.
1
They will need their military to police their own cities as they go dark and cold. They imported a lot of people they should not have. And the German people are so very very cowed now.
1
Not to mention DEF shortages.
1
@MarsBarsMcGee Diesel had long been cheaper than gasoline, then we started shipping it to Europe when the EPA made diesel "dirty" because of particulates.
1
@TsaicoGaming Yea but California CHP might frown on that when they pull you over regardless of what you are in. I imagine they are dipping every diesel tank on the road making sure its paid its road tax. I'm so glad I left there. But so much comes through California ports its going to be rough.
1
@k333rl I am not worried about it for myself, I dont drive a rig. But there will be DEF shortages in the future. That will make the cost of transport even more expensive.
