They stated there was gas release. The tubes have to be pressurized to keep them from collapsing. Which means that there are structural leaks in those pipes. If they havent collapsed already, they are at risk to do so. But yes, it was a horrible news report. They seemed more interested in stirring up drama then actually explaining the situation.

@mathias4851 I mean anyone could have done it. Or the lack of pressure in the pipes could have done it. But more than likely it was one of the players and intentional.

@Exception1 The boomers across the globe will start to age out pretty quick. After that population will fall like a rock. China alone is going to drop 500 million in the next two decades. And if you think African nations can keep growing at the rates they have been once the global trade system breaks down, well, its not something I would want to laugh about.

This just signed Germany's death as a major exporting nation. They are done. Even if the war in Ukraine ends tomorrow, no more gas. And Germany is the major power in the Euro zone. As goes Germany, so does the Euro zone. Who will bail out the PIIGs now?

Thats a good question. Something no one even wants to talk about. But if the global trading system is about to fall apart, which seems to be occurring, the Germans need to ask themselves, what do we need to do moving forward to secure our position?

@MarcosElMalo2 Trump told the Germans to their face, and they laughed at him for his trouble. Germans will get everything they deserve. Unfortunately the good will suffer with the fools. But this is the way of the world.

@herrwahnsinn4229 If the pipes were functional they might very well could. But if they are permanently damaged, well, that changes the equation then doesnt it? Even if the war ended tomorrow and the Russians made nice to everyone, no more gas. How long did it take to build those each? And it wasnt US posturing, it was the Biden admin. There is a large difference.

@eberkovich Germany lies about its renewables. It has to keep all the power plants it does still have, which are lignite running and just doesnt count them when the sun is up. It gets 7% of its electricity from renewables. And they had to build 155% of its total energy need in solar and wind to do it. It was the 2nd stupidest thing Germany has every done, right behind electing a guy with a funny mustache. And none of those renewables are usable in the German chemicals sector. Germany, as an exporting nation, is dead. And the Greens killed them.

They will need their military to police their own cities as they go dark and cold. They imported a lot of people they should not have. And the German people are so very very cowed now.
