  1. There are two kinds of hardship. The first is the hardship of the mundane. The ordinary. The kind that slowly, but steadily grinds you down to dust. Like time there is no stopping it. The 2nd kind of hardship is that of the physical. This hardship culls the weakest and makes the stronger even stronger. It forces social bonds and creates society. It is the exterior pressure that squeezes people together. But when a society gets to safe, gets to "easy", where there is to much abundance, this no longer happens. The 2nd kind can limit but not stop the first kind of hardship. But the first kind of hardship will wipe out even the strongest.
