  1. When I was stationed there I picked up the language pretty easy. I had one Japanese female friend and she literally wanted to just collect men like Pokemon. A white one, a black one, and latin one, etc etc. None Japanese dont understand honne and tatemae. They just get the surface. You have some Japanese who dont tolerate it but they are always viewed as outcasts and troublemakers, which is why non Japanese people have such a rough time there.

  2. I think its important to say that this isnt the norm in Japan. That said at the rate the society is imploding there its going to start to. A lot of people blame this on feminism but in Japan its more about economics. The crushing debt burden of Japan has destroyed Japanese society with the help of the cultures historical flaws, every culture has flaws. The other North East Asian nations, China, South Korea, and Taiwan are all having this same issue. Dying alone, kodokushi, herbivore men, hikikomori, the insane suicide rate and the need to keep face by working so hard you die on the train going home that they have a word for it, karoshi. Imagine a culture if you felt shame for taking a day off because others would think you are trash. Thats Japan. And its dying.
