  1. Supply and demand. If everyone goes into trades, you will very quickly have an imbalance in the market and wages will drop. No different than why white collar work has had its wages depressed because so many people went to college and got a degree to sit at a desk.

  2. The only way I would go to university today, is the way I did back in the day, on the GI Bill. That said the GI Bill will pay for trade school too. But for university, I would only aim for a stem field. Everything else is useless.
