Thats not why any nation in Europe has a labor shortage. You have labor shortages because your fertility rate has been below 2.1 for so long all your workers are aging out and there arent new ones to take their place.

Taxes my friend taxes. You can double the amount the worker earns and thats whats going to taxes for the privilege of their labor. Then there is the taxes on the building, all the items purchases in the building, dont forget insurance etc etc etc. Governments tax everything a dozen times or more before it gets to the end consumer.

@nickd2296 that varies greatly on where you live. Some places with that amount you would live like a king, others you would be homeless.

@StevenSanchez_95 no one is self sufficient. Thats the rub. Certainly not even at an 18th century tech level. I like things like Novocain and antibiotics.

@mrkilroy9167 most ceos dont get paid that amount. I mean you got guys like Apple CEO who got like 97 million last year but most was stock options. But the typical ceo salary is well under a million dollars. But thats why I dont own Apple stock either. lol That said I totally understand your sentiment and agree with it to an extent. Regardless, if you are paying that much to your labor, they will probably be loyal. and productive.

These people talk out both sides of their mouth. If you have an opening and you cant fill it you arent paying enough. Just like if you are trying to sell a house and no one is buying you have it priced to high. The market doesnt care what you think its worth, it will tell you if you listen. Its the main reason we are having wage inflation right now. Eventually employers will either close or will pay higher wages. But what folks dont understand is that for every 2 boomers that leave the work force there is only one zoomer to replace them. So young men, if you are going to work, if you have needed skills, squeeze your employer for every cent you can get. And if they dont pay it, walk across the street to their competition. I retired at 46. I am not counted. But I earn enough on my farm to not have to be employed and put enough away every month that I will never be employed again.
