@Eclipse-lw4vf I am still playing games I bought in the 1980s. Not sure what you are talking about. Maybe you have only been purchasing games since downloads were a thing. But a lot of us actually own physical copies of games.

I still have games from the 1980s that I play on a DOS emulator. The fact is that we are going to have a video game dark age when all these games just disappear. When Asmond said this is art preservation he is correct, but that is simply a subjective view. But this is also about possession of electronic assets that you purchased. Unless its stated in the purchasing contract that the purchase is really a temporary lease then its retroactively theft. The only way around that and still be just would to make "buying" a game, a lease. And that lease has a termination date. At that date, the game goes bye bye. The thing is both things can happen at the same time. I think they should. Let the market decide which path is the best.
