I joined the Corps in the early 90s. On some domestic flights the airlines, specifically United and Alaskan, would tell me I couldnt fly in uniform. I was told if I wanted to fly I would have to take off my uniform so that the other people on the plane wouldnt feel threatened. On JAL flights, Korean Airlines, and on Emirates I not only was asked to board first in my uniform, they always upgraded me to first class. In the US, I would get called a baby killer often. And your father was correct, after 9/11 it completely changed.

No, its not that you werent good enough. Its that the government is trying to limit its liability post service. Currently the 6th largest Federal outlay is VA services.

@adambaker4590 No its because we are actually starting to treat them because the public demands it now. The problem is its going to break us in the long run. The only way to stop that is to really limit the people who can serve. But even then, almost everyone who discharges has some limit of disability. Though most never get a dime for it. Heck I've been fighting the VA over a decade due to the 5 surgeries I had to have because of service related injuries. Government just cant afford it, well, it could, it would just have to cut out all the crap.
