  1. Gas pricesa, adjusted for inflation, are still below historical norms. Something to think about. This is of course dependent on where you live. Places like California pay much more than the mid west, for a number of reasons, most of them self inflicted. You cant cry about inflation and then judge everything in nominal dollars when in real dollars they are lower in actual cost. This is the literal definition of talking out of both sides of you mouth.

  2. You need to understand the difference between nominal and real dollars. If you took that .99 cent a gallon gasoline and sold it at the same real value with 2023 dollars it would cost $4.20 US. Then you would need to adjust for all the new taxes in California so add a $1.50 at least.
