  1. The real issue is the current cultural zeitgeist, with DEI and inclusion over all other things, makes this suspect, even if diversity and inclusion wasnt Ubisofts intent. I would argue that if this came out in 2012, it would not be as big of an issue. That said, this is a reactionary backlash against an aggressively toxic leftist ideology, which may or may not be justified based on ones beliefs. Its also why both sides are right. This is just culture war stuff. Japan just hates being the battle ground for stupid western wokism. This is no different than the girl boss movies that keep coming out that keep failing because they were greenlit pre covid when that kind of thing was accepted but now is not. It missed its time. That is the fate of a lot of things that are "trendy".
