There isnt enough of their income to bridge that gap. You could take all their wealth and it wouldnt even cover the deficit spending for one year.

This cant be resolved. You have a stagnant or shrinking and older population, who needs social services. So any cuts there will trigger a electoral response against anyone who suggests it. So there will be no cuts. Even completely eliminating the military wont close the deficit. At the same time any cut would cause a recession at best, a depression at worst. So the general working population wont want it. Special interests (farms, companies and state and local governments) wont want cuts either. Add to that an inability to actually grow the economy because of population decline, nothing is going to fix this. We have until about 2033, barring nothing bad happens between then and now. Folks should get their lives in order and prepare. I know I sound crazy, but its coming.
