Women don't need to have marriage and kids... until the US defaults or has to stop SSI because to many takers not enough payers. Then it's going to be a dumpsterfire for most strong independent wonen.

@Emily-bp7ol the statistical data on that topic is very clear. In cases where women out earn a man divorce rates approach 90 percent. There is a very clear and real correlation between a man's earning potential and ability to attract and keep a spouse. And that's one of the reasons less and less women are getting married. They find fewer and fewer men in their income brackets who are equal to them. And those who are often marry women based off of very different parameters. Because men and women look for and value very different things in each other. So you have women who are in their 30s make 90 to 100k and say where are all the good men at? They think they are awesome choices, but men don't want that, women want that. It's a very clear case of projection. And in your case, you are absolutely not in the norm, statistically speaking. All of that said I wish you and your family the best. I too am a homesteaders. It is very rewarding.

@jessicathomas4672 it's not a personal belief. It's a data driven conclusion. Women use to have to get married and have children for security. They dont anymore. The sooner that's stated openly and without shame the sooner we can try to figure how to resolve things. Not really sure how that's projecting anything.

Assuming that after grandpa died that grandma had to funds to take care of the home. Most are just torn down.

@standinginthegap7118 you missed the point completely. I won't dissect you post completely, but let's that your first point. Currently women make up 47 percent of the labor market. That means there is 53 percent left. Those individuals we call men. So men make up the majority of workers. Wages have been stagnant, relative to.inflation, since the 70s. The same time women entered the labor force in mass. There is a funny thing in economics called supply.and demand. Women entering the work force almost doubled labor thus reducing its value. I could keep going but I'm not trying to be argumentative. We have seen what's happened to women in other nations whose social welfare system has collapsed. You can ignore it if you like, that's your right.

@standinginthegap7118 I don't hate anyone for their opinion, and I don't hate you for yours. That aside, I am glad you took the time to see my 2nd post and respond. Civil discourse is all to rare these days. Perhaps I could have done a better job at communicating.

@standinginthegap7118 it certainly would make things less dramatic wouldn't it.

@blacklightfreakout825 I mean if you want to be a Dubai porta potty that's not any of my business.

From where? No one has a positive population growth rate except African nations.

You are chasing the tail. Don't have kids cuz bad economy, economy bad because no pop growth demand. Just say you don't want kids. Women need to be honest so we can adjust instead of everyone lying to each other.

@clarissak.4587 its an excuse. I raised 3 kids in California on 65k a year. My wife stayed home. Its how one chooses to live. Most people have different priorities, they want things not kids. That's fine. I don't judge them. But I would like people to be honest to themselves why the do and don't do things. I don't think women are bad. They are making choices that fit their best current situation, just like men. The only issue will be in the future. You want to see the future, go look at south Korea and Japan's current economic and demographic forecast

@jaybartgis5148 You may want to look at the stats a bit closer. Most muslim nations in the middle east are barely at replacement numbers. Take "our allies" the saudis, 2.2 fertility rate. The only place in the Muslim world with a rate of 6 is in sub saharan africa, Niger. Thats it. Everywhere the fertility rate is collapsing. Heck in south Korea its 0.64. India, 2.179 %, China is 1.69. Even Mexico is at 2.072.

@MR-wc9lh we are already doing that. You must have missed that memo.

@Yo-gp4ib men who are married HAVE to make more money. So they work incredible stupid hours, then 80 percent of the time the wife files for divorce. If you look at total hours worked, not money you see the "truth" in that stat. As for living longer men who have been married, and that's what the study your citing read, do live longer than men who NEVER married. So the never married group includes all the guys who die young, in war, the special needs (most special needs are male). The married group includes men who have e been divorced. It's easy to skew data and drive sheep when most people don't know how to read through bs.

@blakejohnson3864 deal with what? Did I offend you or something?

@archibaldtuttle8481 well over the course of the next 100 years as the world's population implodes maybe you will be happy.

@patricialongo5746 his mind is set. Best not to waste you energy on those who are not open to changing their views.

This is world wide. In the 70s western governments concluded that empowered women have less kids and that there were already to many people. Today, western governments, "how do we increase birth rates?" Look at Japan, South Korea and China. All are about to implode.

@Jersey1971 the death tax on estates is exempt of the first 5 million for an individual 10 million for a married couple. Not exactly the type of property most folks inherit, have to dump because of taxes, or reits want to buy.
