Comments by "worn down" (@worndown8280) on "Property Taxes EXPLODE. Owners Forced to SELL (especially in TEXAS)." video.
They can just raise sales tax instead. The issue isnt the taxes, its that the citizenry want the government to provide services, that requires taxes. Year after year more and more people want more and more services. The money has to come from somewhere. Or the people can stop voting for more "free" stuff.

This is the thing, in this country we vote. Everyone is focused on the president. Thats really the only election that matters to most people. Maybe, higher taxes will cause them to focus on the local elections, the ones that should really matter. I know, I am naive. The modern American is a pitiful creature.

Where did these taxes come from? People voted for them. This is the peoples fault. God forbid people be responsible.

@timothykeith1367 Yup. It was the same way in California too, before I left. School needs a bond, county needs a new jail, need to expand the water treatment plant... drip drip drip. Zero accountability when the next year they come back and say, oops it wasnt enough, we need more.

@aolvaar8792 Because every county and State is yours right? It isnt usage. People with wells and septic still get hit with property bond measures for sewer and waste treatment. People without children still have to pay school bonds on their real property. I can keep going, but I doubt you would care. Which is fine.

@fnamelname7296 Prop 13 only covered increases in the assessed value that can be taxed. Bond measure cost increases are not covered. Thats why they cant assess your house for the full 2.6 million. Dont worry, they already canceled the inheritance protection, they will get around to getting all the money they want. (I use to live in California, I know how the tax system works there)

All those property taxes are voted on, or at the very least everyone who raised every property tax was elected. People get the taxes that they want.

Its pretty hard to get a 100% disability rating. Ive seen guys with missing arms get rated 40%. Semper Fi

@philipmorgan6352 There are few creatures fouler than clerks at the county level. They seem to enjoy making everything harder. First the lawyers, then the clerks.

@JH-qy7zw Yeah, I dont like sales tax, but at least I can avoid it by choosing not to engage in commerce. It is something, with behavior choices, one can avoid or very much limit it.

@rdean150 If you think that real estate values only increase because of investors, well I mean you can think what you want, if it makes you feel better. But thats not the source of the problem.
2
@rdean150 I can only go by what you post. I dont know you or what your positions are. I do know you get triggered easily and have difficult communication your position. And to that extent you have my sympathy. You do a lot of projection instead of asking questions. If you want to know my position, instead of inferring you could ask. But instead you project and attempt weak insults. We probably are that far apart, but its whatever. But thats all fine. Your posts are here for everyone to see, forever. lol
2
@rjm7166 Cry more. See if that is effective. lol Either people are in charge of their government or not. Are you saying you are at the mercy of your government? Maybe you should do something about it, besides crying about it on the internet.
2
@aolvaar8792 You are mad because you fail to communicate effectively. Clearly thats my fault. Lol.

Most property tax goes to the counties. The problem is most states are so in debt, their retirement system so underfunded that they are close to ruin. They need this money. There are only a handful of states that are fiscally sound, two off the top of my head are Idaho and Tennessee. But there are about ten that will probably have to massively cut services in the next recession.

@mariannorton4161 who elected the politicians? People like you, who refuse to see or even understand the truth that a century of voting patterns walked us to today step by step. A complete inability for introspection or personal responsibility. You are the perfect modern voter.
1
@rdean150 You seem the type to remove your own posts.

@markmitzlaff8672 I am sorry you had to go through that. To many of our brothers suffer needlessly. You have my respect. I hope things are going better for you now. Semper Fi.

@markmitzlaff8672 I am glad to hear that. The drink will rot some men out fast. I served with a few that it just ate them up in a few years. I just left Northern California last year. I dont know if you are from So Cal, or separated out of Pendleton, but there are much greener pastures abroad. The price and the standard of living is much nicer. But if all your family is there I can understand staying. Unless, like me, you get them all to move with you. lol

@genarojamesii9253 All of those issues are the fault of the ignorant electorate. The founders warned of government insatiability. If the electorate is to ignorant to see it then the they are already enslaved. You utter refusal to place the blame on the source of the problem is not different than most voters. Its always someone elses fault not mine, said the American voter. smh
1
@aolvaar8792 I missed your point, which I understand now, because your communications skills need improvement, respectfully.
1
@deutzallis6497 As I dont know what you referring to I cant comment. I never mentioned a county commissioner or sheriff so no clue what you are talking about.
1
@aolvaar8792 lmao right. let me know when you want off your cross, ill kick you a stool. If you dont want to be challenged dont post on the internet or at the very least, dont respond to post that counter yours. Me having an opinion isnt gaslighting you, you just cant stomach an opinion different than yours. And yes I am laughing at you.

@soulfireonfire6423 Easy, they vote. They vote the politicians in who raise wages and increase retirement benefits to local, county and state workers. They vote on bond measures for new crime labs, the new theater center for the school, school bonds of all types. Water treatment plants, levee construction and repair, do I need to keep going? I can keep going forever. Ill give you an actual example, I use to live in a community in northern california where we had to have levees. The county said the bond needed to be this much and and it would cover construction and and maintenance for the next 50 years. So we agreed and voted it in. They then took half the money and re appropriated it to build a new bridge over said levee and said oops now there is no more money so we need another bond. People were upset. And then they voted for another bond. How many of the councilmen were voted out do you think? A big fat zero. This happens all over the country. People dont care. And when you point it out to you the response is anger. From a psychological standpoint I get it. But those of us who do care are just out voted. Your attitude is normal. Deflective. Rather than look at everyones behaviors together. And thats fine, be angry at me for pointing out the problem. I use to that from people with your attitude.

@birdness imagine limiting the franchise so rigging is much harder
1
@soulfireonfire6423 What does any president have to do with county property taxes?
1
@righteousone1 Most nations dont allow non citizens to own land. So i mean dont worry about it.
1
@user-yr9by9zo4i Stop talking about Tennessee. We dont want more folks coming here.
1
@andreag8666 You should re read prop 13. The assessments are capped. Its why California is out of control when it comes to bond measures. prop 13 doesnt touch those.
1
@andreag8666 the bonds are literally on real property. What are you talking about?
1
Prop 13 has already been whittled away at. It wont be long before the Dems in control just wipe it out completely. You know, for equality
