  1. As populations decline national debts will crush those nations. First it will be one or two nations. Probably Japan and China. But when they default. And can no longer sell debt. That means that they can no longer purchase foreign goods or services it will have a cascade effect. Simultaneously the US will find it harder and harder to maintain its military, meeting recruitment numbers now is impossible, which largely protects global trade as well as stops minor fights from turning major. Most Western nations give a lot of money in foreign aide, that too will stop. But the final straw will be when nations social safety nets implode. No more preferred or protected status for women. No more bureaucratic jobs. It will be the death of the modern state from the debt burden. Many nations will be forced to return to an 18th century lifestyle for a lack of resources that make modernity possible. Once that happens populations will rise again.
