  1. why hold a rental that you get a 4% return with all the additional work needed when you can hold a corporate bond for the same price or more with next to no risk?

  2.  @MHiggins  No there is a point. Its why duplexes and apartment buildings are a thing. The dwelling isnt the commodity, the people are. Or more exactly their rental revenue is. But rentals shouldnt make up a plurality of neighborhoods. Thats not good for the community, the owners or the renters. Most American homeowners are going to be upset as their on paper wealth shrinks with the devaluation of their real property though. I personally think that housing will return to being a deflationary asset like it was before WWII. And this says nothing of city and county tax assessors. Some communities are going to go broke.
