  3.  @Tony-Taslud  it doesnt matter if he said that. The Federal government, per the SCOTUS decision that overturned Roe stated that the Federal government had no authority to regulate abortion. Banning is also regulating. So even if Trump wants to ban it, he cant. The only way either side can change that is with a Constitutional amendment. And neither side has the votes to do that.

  4.  @blakespower  that US destroyer was a Burke class destroyer. Its 505 feet long. An Iowa class BB is only 860 odd feet long. Tiny isnt a good word to describe something that is as long as a 40 story building is tall.

  5. This is nothing. In 1862, during the "Great Flood of 1862" it rained 50 inches in San Francisco and the central valley was 30 feet deep in water. Its one of the things that made Californians build is flood protection levee system. Its why flooding there is so rare now. But most is over 100 years old now.

  8. Had this happen about 4 years ago with my oldest. One of the opposing team members was throwing body shots in the keys. Refs refused to call it. So one of the kids on our team knocked him out. Then the opposing teams family members went crazy. Refs let this kind of thing get out of control all the time. Refs at any time can stop the game and throw people out. They dont. The question is why. Because people are crazy today. So my kids quit sports and now just lift in the gym. This isnt a covid problem, thats just cope, its a societal one.

  16. sadly this puts at risk every Ukrainian combatant captured or alleged combatant. But generally speaking, soldiers who commit crimes are not put to trial until after hostilities are ended. This will burn bridges. But I dont think many are thinking about after the fighting stops. But peace always comes.

  22.  @brooks8792  I dont think you understand the absolute massive amount of classified material produced every year. We still have troop movements and supply orders from WWI classified. The real question is why were these documents were ever actually cataloged as classified. And we dont know yet if these were confidential, secret, or top secret. If they originated with Biden or were classified by someone else and then, illegally, given to him. So much that is unknown at this point. The problem is half the nation doesnt trust the FBI.

  24. Let me put my tin foil hat on: Elections are suppose to be anonymous. Full stop. Why would I give a polling company my personal information so I can be identified while at the same time knowing that the NSA captures every phone call in the USA, at their Utah Data Center, as well as probably every email that is sent. Heck that polling company probably sells the data as well. I dont think either side trusts enough to be honest anymore. And that is largely the media and politicians fault.

  25.  @WingsOfDay  Thats why a good pollster will "control" for the number of new registered people. How many register for each party and independent. Its what leads to an increased margin of error. Especially in states where people register in the opposite party so they can sand bag potential candidates, like that one fell who tried to shoot trump did.

  29. I dont know why pro choice people are worried about a "nation wide ban" on abortion. Per SCOTUS the Federal government has no jurisdiction to regulate abortion. That includes banning it. Its a states right issue under the 10th amendment. I cant tell if these people are truly ignorant of that or if they are just being dishonest. Neither is good for voting or politics though.

  32.  @jaridkeen123  If the US sends mechs into Ukraine then we are in an active war zone. Thats not going to happen. Not officially. If you were a tanker, which I am not doubting, you know the US has never engaged even with a near pear military power and armor was always used with air superiority or air supremacy. Ukraine does not have that and wont have that. I wouldnt expect the Abrams or the Leopard to perform anywhere near as good in that environment. But you are free to disagree. Semper Fi 07

  33. No they are attempting to look strong while they are very weak. Whats going on inside China right now is akin to biblical. Floods in the south ruining 70% if the wheat harvest. And a drought in the north so bad that roughly 10% of the corn crop will be available. This says nothing about the Swine Fever that is ravaging their pigs for the 4th year in a row. China is just following the Art of War.

  35.  @Tony-Taslud  Per the SCOTUS decision what you described is unconstitutional. Abortion is a 10th amendment issue, irrespective of ones views. The only way to change that is to specifically give the Federal government the authority to regulate abortion, that means a Constitutional amendment.

But importation of slaves was commerce meaning importation and interstate commerce of slavery could be regulated by the Federal government under the commerce clause. Its why the Federal government was able to outlaw the bringing in of new slaves to the US in 1807. But its also why the thirteenth and fourteenth amendments were passed. That gave the Federal government the authority to regulate slavery inside individual states. You havent actually read the Constitution have you?

That means a Republican Congress with a Trump president CAN'T force a nation wide ban on abortion. That also means a Democrat Congress with a Harris president CAN'T force all states to have abortion access. This isnt my personal opinion. I dont care either way. The Federal government lacks that authority. That authority is given to the individual states via the 10th amendment. Have you read the 10th Amendment? Perhaps you should. If either of the two events were to happen, that I stated above, it would go to the SCOTUS and they would rule that law is unconstitutional. I dont know why you have a hard time understanding that.

The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision..." Because of that the 10th Amendment holds sway giving abortion to the States to decide. If people want to change that, they can. They just need to pass a Constitutional amendment. A law will not cut it, because that law would violate the 10th Amendment. This would also prevent anyone from doing a total Federal ban because again, 10th amendment. Its the same reason why the 13th and 14th amendments needed to be passed in regards to slavery. That said, I really do appreciate your civility in this. Far to many people are aggressively irrational with this matter, on both sides. Perhaps we disagree on the procedural legalities, but again, I appreciate your civility. Gives me hope.
