With the inflationary increase in housing, rent, food, fuel and energy, this time it is different. With 11 million job openings unfilled you know its a problem. Businesses cannot afford to pay what it would take to fill those jobs, so they sit, ever vacant. Inflation is consuming everything. And it will cause the economy to seize up. And the only option the Fed has is to raise interest rates, with will make the seizing happen faster or lower rates and let inflation run rampant and seizing anyways. People simply will not have the money to keep liquidity flowing. So they will sell sell sell any asset they can to meet their obligations. What shocks me is people cannot see this.

High job openings are a sign that employers cannot afford to pay a wage that would attract a worker. Its literally a sign of inflationary pressure on both sides of the equation. A worker wont take it because it doesnt make economic sense. And employer wont raise rates because to do so means they cannot compete.

@FreddieBob leasing doesnt allow pipes and build permits. They can hand out all the leases they like, but if they dont allow build permits, they are useless political kabuki.

Its amazing how a recession shakes people out of their homes. Regardless of their APR.

@valkyriefrost5301 They refuse to admit that all inflation is monetary. Its not just been the US printing, its EVERYONE. China has printed 5 times what we have for at least a decade every year. Its why their prices shot up so high. I dont see how people dont understand this.

Boomers own 44% of single family homes in the US. Boomers are starting to die, 29% of their generation has already passed. Housing is in for a huge deflationary event. The question is timing, will it happen at all at once or is it a slow 20 year decline with fits and starts?
