@Justadonkey If you cut out the LA basin and the Bay Area, California is amazing. Good people in the rural areas. I mean the LA basin has more people in it than 46 of the States in the US. Its just shy of having more than New York State by 900,000 people. Besides New York only Florida, Texas and California itself has a larger population.

I use to work on East 18th street at the Oakland Uhaul, this was back in the late 80s and early 90s. I started there when I was 14. I only worked the weekends. 3rd weekend there I am covering the front for lunches when a guy with a boom box comes in the front door and puts a revolver in my face. Took all the money and just walked out with his music playing. East Oakland has always been a dumpster fire.

@tanyachef 8th largest economy, down from the 5th. But via purchasing power its in the bottom third of US states. That said, I am glad you got out. I try to tell folks, you can yell at the political refugees coming out of Cali all you want, but if you listen most will teach you a lesson. On the bright side people seem to, generally speaking, self segregate to states based on their political views.
