  1. Here's a theory. An intelligent, eternal, and powerful first cause, caused the universe. This theory avoids an eternally regress of causes which would not allow today to ever arrive. It's sufficient to explain why we have something instead of nothing, from nothing. (Time, space, and matter are correlative) And, it explains the "apparent" fine tuning of the universe; the order and design in everything from the physical laws and constants, to the intricate design and programming in life and DNA. Occum's razor does not prohibit the explanation being more complicated "in its nature" than the question, only that the use of the explanation not be complicated or extraordinary. If i ask how did YouTube get here, the answer is simple, (someone invented it or developed it)but the explanation is still more complicated than the thing it's explaining. The mind that created the program is far more complicated than the program itself. So the only real question is who is that intelligence and has he given us a way to get to know him? I hear this guy, born of a virgin 2000 years ago, said he was that very same intelligent, eternal, powerful first cause. He went by the name of Jesus and his friends John wrote in chapter 1 of his book that "by Him all things were created and was no thing created that was not created by Him". At the beginning of a collection of 66 books on this very topic it says("in the beginning(time) God created the heavens(space)and the earth(matter)."- Genesis1) I'm sure you've heard of it. The bible. And nothing said in the bible contradicts what we know to be true about this world. Yes, A lot of people make up theories that contradict what he said. But no hard science says anything different than what Jesus said, and had recorded for us, that we might come to know him. And the only reason they recognize and mention miracles is because they understood the order and design of nature. And could distinguish between every day events and uncommon occurrences. If anything the historical accuracy lends to the legitimacy of the documents. So the question isn't, "how did nothing create the universe? " That's impossible. The question is "how did the universe start from nothing?"
