  1. Simple. Because the ORIGINAL AR15 was an absolutelly dog shit design that should have never been adopted, that over the span of 50 years of CIVILIAN developement has somehow managed to turn into one of the "best" and most sucessful rifles ever made. Buffer tube and forward assist werent upgrades, they were a stop gap solution for a poor design of the feeding, bolt carrier and recoil control of a weapon.
