@tree down It's funny, I'm not the superstitious type, but for the past 40 years, every time we've elected a Republican president, we've had an economic crash and massive death. Oddly, the least bad numbers-wise among Republicans was George H.W. Bush. He at least had the good sense to keep Desert Storm brief and limited. @JustinL614 Explain what? Obama's numbers were basically the same (or better) than Trump's, even before COVID. Post-COVID, of course, his numbers are far better than Trump's. Obama took a lot of ridicule for saying that GDP of 2 to 3% was the new normal... and then Trump had the exact same GDPs. Debt has accelerated under Trump because he's spending like Obama, but slashed income by cleaving 40% off of the corporate tax rate, without any payback in performance (Remember when the tax cuts hit, and Trump promised "GDPs in the fours, the fives, even the sixes!" Yeah, not so much.) As for the stock market, Obama was a pro-business president (which is why the Bernie Bros turned on him), and the market was helped by Obama basically ending the Iraq and Afghanistan wars (93% of the troops were brought back by 2016). So... was that the explanation you were looking for?

@JustinL614 Oh, they're not copied and pasted from anything. They are all rock-solid points, backed up with data. I notice you could refute none of them, which is understandable. I've done decently under Trump, but not nearly as well as under Obama, when I tripled my wealth. Granted, I bought in at the right time (2008), but my bank account doesn't lie.

@JustinL614 Dude. The market went up 138% under Obama. Under Trump? 30%. In 2008, I was able to buy my first home (thanks to the TARP Act, which made getting a loan easier if you had great credit, which I did). When I sold five years later, it had gone up 150%. I also bought into the market at the same time. My standard S&P mutual funds went up (as you would guess) 120%. My other money went into Adobe stock. Up 300% under Obama. So... yeah. My portfolio under Trump is up about 35%, compared to 250% under Obama. Simple math.

blksbth1 Easy, because I did way better under Biden, and without the never ending clown show by a wannabe dictator who denies science and would rather hundreds of thousands of Americans die than lose an election. Biden is elderly, but certainly not mentally ill like Trump. I’ll take doddering over malignant any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

@joelellis7035 No, I bought in in 2008. So I never suffered any losses from the previous disastrous Republican administration. I also sold most of my positions in the last 2 years. It didn't take a genius to see the writing on the wall. No good would come of having a reality-TV president. I just had no idea quite how bad it could get. If Biden gets elected, you can be damn sure the cash I'm waiting with on the sidelines will go right back into the market. In the words of Donald Trump, "I don't know why, but the economy just does better under Democrats."

Dan Templeton Yes, Trump is not at all an Authoritarian dictator. He just talks about disbanding the Supreme Court, pardons every crony convicted in a trial, threatens to defund public schools unless they ignore the CDC and force kids to go back to school, fires anyone who disagrees with him, and threatens to prosecute SNL for making jokes about him. Trump is (proudly) the most dictatorial President in the history of the country. It’s a huge part of his appeal. It’s basically his Brand.
