Yep. Beatles, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd… maybe Nirvana. Or Queen.

I wanted to hate this band because SemiCharmed Life was SO insanely overplayed… then I heard the opening track and I thought “God d-mmit, now I have to like these guys, don’t I?”

Cavett’s heyday was slightly before my time, but watching him now, he’s really incomparable. Also, Rick Moranis often did an insane impression of him on SCTV. 😂

@EliteTeamKiller2.0 Bingo. One of the "writers" ripped it off, didn't tell anyone, sold it to Katy Perry, the record company poured tons of cash into producing the track... when some intern at the record company said "Uh, guys, this is another song." Then the lawyers got involved.

@cranklabexplosion-labcentr8245 Actually, I might scratch Floyd and add CCR as another poster suggested. Floyd has some legendary songs, but much of their catalog is art rock, which generally doesn’t age well. CCR specialized in SONGS, which are evergreen.

@simontemplar3359 Eh... the only song they stole that doesn't totally sound different from the original is "Dazed and Confused", by Jake Holmes. That was outright theft. Everything else (You Need Love/Whole Lotta Love, etc.) sounds almost unrecognizable from the original. And, by the way, a lot of those blues guys stole their songs from local guys who didn't have a record contract. Granted, Zeppelin should have added names of the artists they were "sampling" from, and shared some of the royalties.

While I respect the skill, music like this always sounds to me like somebody practicing scales. Zero feeling from it whatsoever.

@itslikethesamebutdifferent8020 Queen is having a moment right now, helped by the biopic movie. That may not last. Who knows.

@bostonterry17 Hey, I love Floyd. But it’s definitely a more challenging listen than the other bands. That’s not a statement about quality, just widespread appeal.

Barely. They’re like Magnavox, a name that’s technically still “around”, but only exists to be slapped on toasters with bricks inside.

I'm happy. HAPPY TO DEMAND "BLACK DOG" INSTEAD OF "ROUND AND ROUND"!!1! ;)
