  1. There's a book, What's the Matter With Kansas. It's a good view into the mindset of a classic East Coast liberal. Much of it questions why they keep voting "against their own interests" in the view of the author. From an outsider's point of view, they keep voting for the right if Kansas to keep being Kansas and not ruled by their self proclaimed betters. I'm from Florida. It seems to be a mystery to many of them why starting a debate with "Well, in New York we...", or "At Harvard we learned..." is the quickest way to lose an argument.
