  1. Most people today don't remember how unpopular bussing was. At my school it was, ironically, the black parents who apposed it. We had one of the "good schools", and they didn't want their kids shipped to a whiter, but poorer quality school. Living in the South I always found it humorous. Northerners had spent the last 20 years trying to control most aspects of the political/governmental policies because we couldn't be trusted to get along. But it was in progressive places like Boston where people absolutely lost their minds when they were told that little Suzy had to go to school with the black boys.
