@bashirelmubarak8527 The difference between the amount needed vs the amount they could provide was too wide. Only overland pipelines (too vulnerable), or traditional tanker shipping (that bothersome British navy) could get what they needed from Persia/Middle East. Mostly they shipped crude oil. The ability to process it on site was very limited. Even today, many nations like Iran produces a lot of oil, but very little gasoline or diesel.
