  1. I was in highschool back in the 1980's when I learned the "recommended" sources such as books and articles were almost the only accepted source. Reading other books on a given or parallel subject, even when sighting them in the notes, was often discouraged and cause for being marked down. The situation is much worse today. Repeating anything beyond the party line can result in a failing grade.
