Much like squatters, they are protected to the point that using harsh language against one is almost a crime. Deal with the situation, but never mention it to anyone.

  3. ​ @gambitbeats2154  Check the history of the Dustbowl era. Thousands of farms and homes across America were abandoned. People just got up and left. Also check with your state. Most have an annual auction of abandoned/no title real estate. The usual cause today is a person dies and their heirs don't know that person owned it. After taxes aren't paid for a few years and the owner can't be contacted, it goes up for sale.
