  1. The biggest thing going against her is her notoriety. She may be too high profile, and her crimes too obvious to be ignored. Corruption is standard behavior in Illinois, doubly so in Chicago and surrounding areas. Convictions and prison time is rare.

  2. Maybe they'll elect a deacon or preacher. So they can add "I'm a man/woman of Ghawd!" to their list of defenses when cash disappears again.

  3. The money is gone. Yes, they can make repayment a part of the penalty for anyone convicted. But do you honestly think any of them have the cash to pay even a tiny percentage?

  4. I'm convinced they brought her in to allow Supermayor to work out a plan to bail with a golden parachute. But they waited too long, the internal audit will be almost meaningless against a federal investigation.

  5. Resign from office. Keep whatever she grabbed while there. Keep a sizable pension. Offer a backhanded apology that blames everyone around her. No jail time.
