I was interviewed like this, diagnosed with anti social personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder which the psych said was similar to being a psychopath. My question is how do you avoid jumping to conclusions based on what’s in their file. In many cases you know what happened or atleast a version of it. I feel like I was diagnosed before i even was evaluated. Are most of these diagnosis just basically based off the circumstances of the interview itself?

@ Yeah and that is typically because one is one the defendant or defense attorney sent them to see and you typically get a diagnosis that is more sympathetic, something like Bi-polar disorder. Then the other is “state approved” like was the case with mine there is no mistake that I was given a list of state approved psychs I had to choose from. Those typically go the way mine did, it’s easier to get a conviction on a “psychopath”. Than someone that is mentally ill. The system is pretty rigged

@ That’s a relief, I was interviewed by several psychologists but if you say I’m good then I guess you must be right, in fact I was thinking about getting help but you have convinced me not too. I just hope my impulses to hurt myself don’t return because of you

@ I’m not doubting you whatsoever but I’m just curious because I feel the same way but at the same time I have had an awful lot of problems in my life and have been told to see a “professional” my whole life which isn’t why I was diagnosed btw but just wondering what your experience is. It’s impossible to diagnose someone you don’t know over the internet and I’d imagine it’s just as impossible to undiagnose someone in the same way. You don’t know why I was being diagnosed or what had happened to bring me into a psych evaluation so I’m just curious what makes you so sure?
