  23. AnimalLeftist First off everyone is aware that Steve Irwin died. But he too supported proper facilities such as Sea World which is why his daughter Bindi learned to support them. Again, animals do not die instantly unless they are caught inhumanely, if that were true vets would never be able to help an injured animal like squirrels, birds, cats, raccoons, wolves, rabbits, bears and countless others. Before you state something make sure logic backs it up. Your facts are all extremely outdated and lack good reasoning. Sea World has not captured animals from the wild in over 30 years. Most animals do very well in captivity and guess what most of them also wouldn't survive in the wild because of the threats to our planet. It would be cruel to release them to an area where they wouldn't survive most likely for more than a year. When animals are born in captivity, most likely they don't gain the natural instincts they would have in the wild, the instincts that tell them to fear people, what food to eat, how to get food, what predators to avoid. Why? Because they live a good life in captivity where people give them what they need. Some animals like hyenas also have very specific boundary lines and will kill another animal that crosses into it if they are not a part of the group. They wouldn't survive, so instead of bashing an animal rescue group, why don't you bash people who are actually abusing animals like puppy mills, where dogs are forced to breed repeatedly from 6 months to old age. Where the animals live on wire cages covered in feces and urine, with matted fur. Where they live in darkness never seeing the sun, or feeling the grass or human love and contact. Where they develop fatal diseases from inbreeding. Or why don't you bash those who participate in cock fighting and dog fighting. Where roosters have parts of their body chopped away, spurs are stuck to their feet, animals have to fight to the death. Dog fighting, which gives pit bulls a bad rap, that crop their animals' ears and tails, feed them steroids to make them meaner, and all have to be put down for this treatment where they can never be adopted out to families that love them.

  32. I have given you facts, but you have chosen to ignore them because you are not willing to listen to other people's opinions, instead you call people names and block them out if they don't agree with you. If it weren't for places like zoos and aquariums there would be thousands of animals that have gone extinct because of careless development and careless hunting. Cases such as the Caspian Tiger who went extinct because they were hunted for their pelts to extinction as well as the careless land development of their native lands. Now the other subspecies of tigers are under attack and are facing the same fate which has only been slowed and begun to come back to life because of good zoos. Cases like the Amur Tigers, by 1940 the number of individuals was as low as 40 tigers, but through careful conservation techniques,(that includes captivity) that number increased to 500 by 1980. Or would you prefer the case of the condors who's numbers were once at maybe 2-3 dozen because of illegal poaching of the eggs (btw the females only lay one egg every 2 years) and the accidental poisoning of the birds. , but through extremely careful conservation where people cared for the young birds in captivity, the number soared up away from the brink of extinction.  Today their numbers are at an astonishing 127 birds. How about the case of the Western Pond Turtles where their numbers were not only dropping because people would catch them for turtle soup, but they also had the accidental introduction of the bull frog predator, which ate the hatchlings, and the red-eared slider which was a competitor and would even dig up the pond turtle nests and use it for their own. Scientists at the Oregon Zoo collected eggs and took them back to the zoo so they could hatch them and raise them there, and giving them a fighting chance against the invasive species. They fed the turtles until they were the size of a 3 year old turtle and set them free so the bull frogs couldn't eat them. Now how about we talk about the orcas, before 1981, 6,000 orcas were taken by Japanese, Norwegian and Soviet fisherman, where they were hunted for their meat, hides, blubber and internal organs. These would in turn only be used for fertilizer. This combined with pollution in the waters and the competing fishermen, has had a toll on orca numbers. These animals were some of the lucky ones where people learned soon enough that if we didn't protect them when they were in trouble, one day we would wake up and they wouldn't be there anymore. There are hundreds of animals which go extinct every day, many of which we haven't even discovered yet. If someone doesn't do something, even if it is not the popular choice, one day everyone out there is going to ask why no one did anything when they go extinct.
