  1. ATC allowed this & has some blame. There’s no doubt in my mind the ATC has some degree of culpability. ATCs should be the cops of the sky. I think there’s a lot of vague policy and procedure & safety is not number 1.

  4. There were three people in the helicopter. We don’t know who was where and doing what at the time. I understand there was “training” of another helo pilot going on. Probably the woman w/ 500 flight hours was in training. There was a pilot with 1000 hours. Who was the other person onboard the helicopter?

  5. Someone clue in this guy who’s supposed to be an expert? From all the data I’m collecting over several hours it’s clear to me the policy & procedures allowed risky air maneuverings. There should be no cross traffic in the midst of and or during take offs or landings. However in fact it appears this is allowed and the ATC can somehow absolve themselves from responsibility if the pilot says they’ll go on Visual? Crazy, but that would possibly work in the skies over Mayberry Montana but surely not work over the intense congested and fast paced DCA - so many points of failure - all over this 😢
