You're so right. I was part of the "select few" you mentioned. I did 45 yrs as an employee with the fed govt in various capacities over those decades. I agree with what you said, you're 100% spot on.

@LuciusXIII then Medicare needs to be overhauled. I was forced to go on medicare when I hit a certain age. Unfortunately when I was forced to do that, I lost the previous two health insurance coverages that I'd worked my entire life to maintain. The entire concept of being forced to go on to medicare is a crock of sh** It sucks, is unfair, and makes me angry.

@imo.124 No, they want government people to quit or retire. And it's a brilliant tactic. If you want to keep your job, and your employer says youve got to come back to the office. Then you decide whether or not you want to keep that job. If you do, then you move back to where you can go to the office every day. I think in a few years, the govt will make a return to remote work options, but for now, I'm 100% in support of this and this is exactly what is needed to clear out the deadwood.

@LosFace24 This isn't about productivity. It's about the employer and the employee. It's about letting the employee know that they work FOR SOMEBODY higher up the food chain, and they either buck up and get in line, or else resign/quit and look for another job where they can be remote. It's that simple. This is the 'great weeding out' and a brilliant idea. There are more tactics coming, so govt workers just need to get on the bus and deal with it.

@brandykozlowski9094 As an American, I will say that Indian people in the collective are the hardest working people on the planet - there! I said it & I don't care what american is having a hissy fit over that, but it's true.

@NikoBellaKhouf2 respectfully disagree. I’m not Indian btw.

SS needs to find a spot in the federal building. If downtown Redding doesn't have one, then the SS needs to go to the next city over that does have a building. Or, have the SS office & personnel go to the closest military base and set up a work center there. If there's a will, there's a way.

@heatherhall7899 I worked for the federal govt for 20 yrs and with the military for 20 yrs before that. I worked my ass off every day. But I will say very, very few people worked as hard, as long as I did, and you know why I did that? because my various bosses (employers) gave me their work, too. Twenty years of picking up the slack for others who don't want to do their job, don't know how to do their job, or just don't care to do their job because nothing will happen to them "Protected Class"

@ yes I currently have the one additional insurance along with Medicare, but before I was forced to go on Medicare I’d already had two insurance plans in place. They were both excellent and I rarely had to pay a cent or even a co-pay because I had 2 insurance plans. I guess what I’m saying is I was fine without Medicare & never needed it. I wish Medicare was an option, not a mandatory thing.
