  1. "successful" may not be just the right word, I think the word is "powerful". There's never been a time when the Jews - even if it was just a relatively small faction - weren't power-holders especially in the last 100-200 years but as far back as 500 years ago. However the power ebbs and flows in varying degrees over the generations, but the power is never snuffed out completely and never will be.

  2.  @wardropper  so very true & important to say this - a Jew and a Zionist can be one and the same, or it can be two different and separate ways of being. That's why so much talk is vague, confusing, misleading, misinterpreting, etc. because people don't fully understand the definitions, the differing ideological make up at its core, and the Jewish faith histories.
