@DoraFauszt Agree. But it's a snowball effect, meaning because with few exceptions, the U.S. has a hideously absent public transportation system, nobody goes on trains or buses unless you live between Boston & Wash DC, everywhere else it's either absent or miniscule. Therefore, everyone has a personal vehicle (or two, or three, or more). Homes are ridiculously big, too, but Americans have too much stuff, so they "need" a big house to store it (and often pay for a place to store the stuff). Americans are used to living in comfort at all times (heat/air) and can't imagine not having their every whim dictated to. She's obviously talking about comparisons between the U.S. and Europe, Australia, Japan for the most part. The rest of the world operates on a completely different statis.
