  2. Hurricane insurance? I'm unfamiliar with that. But I will say, if you don't have flood insurance which you much purchase/renew annually in a separate rider to your homeowners insurance, you have no coverage whatsoever for any type of damage caused by a hurricane's water/surge/flooding.

After my home was flooded (and I did not live in a designated flood zone) in 2010, I bought flood insurance every year for a few years, I think it was between 800-1000 a year. It's called a Flood ins. rider. Regular homeowners insurance does not cover a natural disaster type of water damage.
