  2. I was given a 40+ year old cockatoo when her owner died aged 74. The bird is going strong and she is over 60 now. I got my first cockatoo when I was 7 and he had just started to fly. I'm now 63 and he is 56. The 2 cockatoos I have don't have clipped wing and can fly. The birds are happy and don't fly away and even have wild ones come foe a visit ans free food. .............. If you bird is happy and feel safe it' will not fly away.
