Ford Australia paid over $12,000,000 to get most of the "FORD, FALCON & FPV" number plates Australia wide, Holden paid over $ 20,000,000 to get most of the "HOLDEN, GMH, MONARO and TORANA" number plates Australia wide. Some of the plates sold at auction for more than Holden or Ford would spend on the day. (NSW plate "FORD" sold for $1,950,000 at auction to a Chinesse guy, Ford didn't get it)
