  2. 25-30 years ago a friend by the name of Daniel Bargima was racing his fathers truck at Oran Park Raceway south west of Sydney, the Track is now gone. My oldest daughter was one his navagators in the Australian offroad racing I know from then, it's not a case of what has been done to the trucks, but more of a case what had not been and what had been removed. All engine governing systems had been removed, his truck (Kenworth) had a 4 speed manual gearbox out of an leyland leopard bus (at that time you could buy an old 1960's bus for $1000 to $3000), the tyers were Dunlop race slicks, wouth $1800 each back then. hate to think what the price is now $$$$$$$$$$$$$ .... As for the engine, all V8's some with turbos, by now I think all would be running turbos as the cost of the turbos has come down. That is about all I know, other than Daniel span out and hit the concret wall, punched hole in it and went off to finish the race last, the truck was still able to race.
