Oxymoron of the month: “responsible gun-owner”

States with the highest gun death rates, according to the CDC: 1. Mississippi 2. Louisiana 3. Wyoming 4. Missouri 5. Alabama 6. Alaska 7. New Mexico 8. Arkansas 9. South Carolina 10. Tennessee And all of those except one are Republican states!

Er... who exactly would not be angry about this? 🤷♂️

In my country, where firearms are illegal, our total annual murder stats (by any means) are in mere triple figures (809 last year), whilst your gun stats alone are 5 figures (20,982). Adjusted for population size, our total annual rate is 1.2 per 100,000, compared to the US's 6.3 per 100,000. And that pattern is consistent in nations where they're banned.

According to Statista, the vast majority (84%) of US mass shootings have been committed using legally held weapons. This contradicts the disingenuous claim, frequently made by pro-gunners, that the opposite is true. BAN GUNS NOW!
2
Eight mass shootings in the US in one day yesterday!!! But most Americans are still against gun control! 🤷♂️
2
Proud to live in a nation where guns are illegal and our murder rate is a fraction of America’s!
2
American gun nuts, you really have no idea how ridiculous you look to us people from more civilised nations, do you? 🤦♂️

327 mass shootings so far this year in America. 703 last year. That's almost two per day. BAN GUNS NOW
2
Every day - in fact, there have been 327 so far this year and there were 703 last year. That's nearly two per day! And get this - there were seven in one day yesterday, including this one!!!

And lest we forget - the Trump-appointed Republican judges on the Supreme Court have BLOCKED sensible gun control measures from being passed.
2
@muizHD Conservatives also keen to point out their 'colour' too, when they're... well, you know. Funny they don't mention it when they're not.
2
Nations where guns are illegal have significantly lower murder rates. Fact.

320 mass shootings so far this year in America. 703 last year. That's almost two per day. BAN GUNS NOW
2
20,982 murders in the USA last year, 37,038 gun deaths and 703 mass shootings. BAN GUNS NOW
2
Sad but true, yes. I'm in the UK and it's like watching a parallel universe - not just the actual shootings but the angry reactions from the gun nuts to any attempt to curb them!
2
Well, wait no longer - there were seven more in the US last night after this one!!!
2
But.. but... the NRA, the Republicans and Tucker Carlson all said that gun crime is only committed by Black people 🤷♂️

@voodooillusion7219 I'm not Australian and it's spelt 'borders'. You also misspelt 'America' and 'safety'.

@Belisarius536 Hunters?! Only in America would someone hold them up as shining examples of responsible citizens 😂 And yeah - your cops are all sooo responsible and well behaved 🙄
1
@Belisarius536 PS: I live in a country where most cops are unarmed too and that's worked out well for us.

@Darkpara1 Not if your shocking stats are anything to go by they're not.
