I was on 3 Sqn at RAF Butterworth Malaysia and the last aircraft to be serviced at 2AD RAAF Richmond A3-15 in 1986 My troops packed all the spare parts from Dubbo when we sold the Mirage to Pakistan even near the end of its Life in the RAAF a Mirage 111 could do a 600 Knot Vertical clime I also worked on the last Avon sabre and the last DC3 before we sent them to Victoria The Avon Sabre had the Top hat and cane. The Americans purchased one of our sabres and kept calling it an F86. I corrected them and told them it was an Avon Sabre because it had a RR engine and two 3mm Aden Guns instead of the 6 0.5 machine guns Avon Sabre A94-983. was never an F86 because it had a RR engine, hence the word Avon and the Avon was used in the RAAF Canberra
