  1. The doggie's tail is usually down, sometimes even when he's running. This is a sign of friendly, stable dog. About the only time the tail was either horizontal or vertical was when the doggie was running, and even then it was wagging broadly, not narrowly. A dog whose tail is up, either rigid or wagging rapidly, but narrowly is a sign of high strung, unstable dog.
