@MilitaryHistoryVisualized What about organizing it into competition/game between different groups/ Like a soccer game/team/ Different military groups, such as Public Military Group, PMCs, and further divided into, PMGs into National/Central Group, Local State Groups, Local Municipal Groups, further divided into ones attached to Judiciaries, Legislatives, and Executives. This will make them politically balanced as well, but brings out unit coherence as well, since one is joining like minded groups, more likely to motivated to do better.

@MilitaryHistoryVisualized The biggest hypocrites I’ve ever met were some of the career military people. Remember some of the Japanese militarists.

My experience is a bit different. I’d rather serve with someone who didn’t volunteer, but forced to serve but wants to survive intact, and help others survive as well. Far less likely to be ‘gung ho’, and less likely to play ‘hero’ and get himself and those who serve with him in needless trouble.

IJA had been portrayed positively in Japanese society prior to 1920s, and IJA had behaved far better toward the prisoners, and foreign civilians in occupied zone. Japanese Society at War: Death, Memory and the Russo-Japanese War | Reviews in History But starting from 1920s, IJA had been portrayed negatively by the society to the point, the officers tried to avoid being seen in uniform when outside duties. 0934 My first hand experience is that psychologically military people are far more diverse than the society in general. The best people I’ve ever met tend to be military, and the worst people I’ve ever met also tend to be military as well. In U.S. Military, the motto is you are what you look like, not what you are. Pass the buck. The shit rolls downhill. The rank has its privileges.

@MilitaryHistoryVisualized So in Austrian military, don’t they divide the recruits based on their physical aptitude and IQs at different level so that there will be no bottlenecks that will slow down an entire unit due to one individual/ In ROK, they divide the recruits from the get go, so that everyone in an unit will be on the same level physical and mental wise.
