  3.  @MEANASSJAMSTER  Yes, the UK successfully transitioned from coal to gas, with some wind, for electricity generation. That kicked off in the early 1990s. It could have been earlier, but the EU had a ban on gas fired power stations. The wind bit started about 2010. It was the same in the US where they also reduced emissions through a switch from coal to gas for electricity generation. In the US much of that gas comes from production induced by hydraulic fracturing. They managed that without splitting the planet into two pieces.
