@keithv3767 battery storage is not the solution for grid scale long duration energy storage. Think off river pumped hydro or some other means of mechanical energy storage. Or think thermal energy storage given over 60% of household energy consumption is for heating and cooling and hot water. Chemical energy storage (ie, batteries) have its place in the energy mix ~ just not for grid scale long term energy storage.

@hankjones7829 I see that math is not one of your strengths.

@jfv65 B. and C. only. Solar and wind electricity production is much less expensive per kwh.

@keithv3767 to imply that battery storage is our only viable means of renewable energy storage is a bit myoptic wouldn't you say?

@MaximGhost I agree. And it seems to me that if using nuclear energy to make fresh water is too expensive, then using nuclear energy to make electricity for homes and businesses will be way too expensive as well. The production side of the electricity ledger we have covered using solar and wind ~ it is the storage side of the energy ledger that needs our attention.

@somerandombaldguy5296 dude, time for you to put your toupee piece on and fade into the background.

@GoatPopsicle chemical energy storage and mechanical energy storage can not handle quick spikes in energy demand, only nuclear can? gtfoh. Sure why not just concentrate all our efforts on nuclear and maybe in the 10 -15 years time it takes to build these radioactive death machines we will have a wonderful psuedo renewable energy grid. 🤦♀️

@GoatPopsicle you left out one wee tiny detail. The coal contamination would be localised ~ but the nuclear contamination would 'spread the love' all around the world. No thanks.

@GoatPopsicle 1.) Read the context again of my comment about coal ~ it contaminating ground water you fool not the air. then, 2.) get a life.
