License required to drive a car, and so to should persons wishing to own a gun (2nd amendment still intact). 2. Registration of all cars owned by a licensed driver is required, and so should registration of all guns in possession of a licensed gun owner. (2nd amendment still intact). 3. Vehicle owners are required to have at least some form of motor vehicle insurance, and the same should apply to gun ownership. With similar to motor insurance,  a portion of gun owners insurance monies is used to assist families and communities of gun violence (2nd amendment still intact). 4. In most states, a minimum level of road-worthiness is required to own a vehicle. So to should a minimum level of secured gun storage(ness) be required by gun owners, dependent of course on the class of weapon owned. (2nd amendment still intact). Come on fellow Americans, this is doable. Step 4. is the most important.  Bolt  action, pump action and lever action guns are given the lowest safe storage requirements. While semi-automatic handguns and assault rifles have the highest safe storage requirements. NO WHERE HAS IT BEEN SAID THAT YOU CANNOT OWN ANY TYPE OF WEAPON.
