  4. People always say that, but I believe they're thinking with their feelings. A self-extinction (and I'm assuming you mean a demise specifically by violence) would require the most insane human actions of all time by a wide margin, and they never explain why human insanity should ever attain to such a vastly higher new peak. I'd say that (technologically adjusted) human insanity is a relatively stable monstrosity.
