The future is murky on that. Canada won't give you a permit for a toolshed, let alone a hydroelectric installation.😠 It's a dam disgrace.(😄)

No. No, it does not. The country doing that also ranks #1 here. But it isn't obvious through this video at all. Rather, it's a fact to be learned elsewhere. (Which I did.)

@eastasiacreativemedia5777 Actually it's a bit under 10% of the national hydroelectric output in recent years.
2
It's great, but at about 5 TWh annually it will raise Canada's hydroelectric output only by just over 1%.
2
Sorry, it's called renewable worldwide.
1
At less than 1 TWh per million people it remains well behind many other countries. Still, I'm glad they have adequate electricity. Now if they can start burning far less coal, planet Earth can breathe better. (Not gonna happen.)

@aison2735 Yep, white derangement syndrome. They're so awful that other races can actually do no wrong, ever. Other races have licence to do anything bad for the rest of all time, because whatever they do it could never compare with the original sin of being white.🙄Yeah, sure.

Probably wasn't a mistake. Probably renewables in Canada provide 17.3% of total energy production, but 70% of the electricity generated. (Note that generated electricity excludes almost all energy for transportation and home furnaces).

That's not true, I've witnessed that.😂

@housebuilder1924 I stole it. Long ago, the late Norm Macdonald got fired from Weekend Update on SNL, not by Lorne Michaels but by the president of NBC (!). When the news broke, David Letterman hurriedly booked Norm to be on his show about two nights later. He sincerely thought the world of Norm, so during the segment he adamantly expressed his solidarity with him over and over, at one point deriding the network president's pretense to being a creative person: "He couldn't create gas after a bean dinner!" The audience burst out laughing and that's when Norm swiftly answered with the above line. (The whole lengthy appearance, still available for viewing and well worth one's while, is jam-packed with hilarity and also touching for the emotions and friendship evident in it. If you ask me, it was a high point in both their careers.)

Uh, the Amazon?

West: "Our CO2 emissions are falling." PRC: "Uh, our, uh, never mind. This press conference is ended."

An important factor is whether there's land around a suitable river that's not severely inappropriate to flood in order to create a reservoir. Canada was lucky to have nearly uninhabitable land in northern Quebec. The province worked around concerns about a few thousand residents and bird populations.

@Rorimac67 A mountain is only very dubiously a natural resource, except over tens of millions of years, as by crumbling it creates fertile river valleys and especially deltas.

@epicnicity916 The designers of the Olympic flag agreed with you. One ring represents the Americas. But you think the Olympic flag still has too many rings, I suppose? One is for Europe, one for Asia.
1
@epicnicity916 Yeah, I know. You didn't get what I was driving at? Don't you think Europe and Asia are one continent? Both sit on the same tectonic plate, the Eurasian Plate. North and South America, by the way, each have their own separate continental plate, the chief criterion for status as a continent.

@willieyz Yes, but that isn't overall. Coal still made up 56% of China's total energy mix in 2022, while renewables, including nuclear (!) accounted for 26%. Renewables hit 50% only in electricity generation (and quickly fell back to 44% anyway). Much energy use involves no electricity; e.g., vehicles running on fuels, or home heating & cooking via burning natural gas.
1
@willieyz Sure, that's why renewables' share of electricity generation fell from 51% to 44% in the last two years, while coal-fired generation continues to skyrocket. But thanks for the People's Daily update!
1
@willieyz On one condition: you give me your source for claiming 50% of cars on Chinese roads are EVs.😂😂

 @Mistmantle88 8x, according to the two national govts. (337.5m / 41.9m = 8.05)
