@michaelboano7183 I wouldn't say we all do. And some do it more often and more flagrantly than others.🤨 Anyway, just because we all did something wouldn't make it all right.

She always looks like she's on something. Glassy eyes, sniffing, wiping her nose, twitchiness. Look at her in the seconds before she first speaks—her face is all disarranged, the parts all at odd angles to one another like in the thumbnail. She's just one person among many for us to listen to. Very high verbal intelligence is her leading asset, but she also has this teenage-girl "eww, that's like so icky" vibe, which screams immaturity of mind. I do have respect for her, but if and when she roots that out I'll respect her much more.

@fs5775 Are you?

Yes, she caricatures Trump in standard Ivy League hipster fashion. But Bush and Obama were stupid. I am also with her on Biden's handling of this file so far. Ukraine is still standing. What has been accomplished to strengthen European and global security has come dirt cheap. Mere tens of billions of dollars have resulted in a seriously weakened Russia and a far more unified NATO. It's Biden's sole achievement.

At some point Putin may be faced with a choice between using nuclear weapons in Ukraine and rounding up his hard-line supporters, who as Ioffe reminds us are far more hard-core than he is. I think he might see the latter option as safer and more convenient for him, and less damaging to Russia itself. It would be a good old-fashioned Stalin-type purge, with loyal supporters dragged off yelling "There has been some mistake! You will be punished for this!" Watch for it.

Sure, Vassily.

@MrGercela64 Oh please. Journalists can judge the subjects they cover and still manage their bias, in the same sense that historians who are 'anti-Hitler' don't for that reason have anything wrong with them as historians. My problems with her are her elite campus-y hipsterism and her ridiculously obvious, uh, lifestyle foible.

There are a lot of factors. One is simply the decline of mental health. Among the most attractive things possible to someone with an unwell personality or mind is the opportunity to blame the world's ills on a group of people unlike oneself. One in six American adults is on at least one psychiatric drug. Of the other five, how many are a-ok?

Ms. Coulter, the way you play with your hair every ten seconds is distracting and makes me think less of you. Just keep your hands in your pockets if need be, but get rid of this tic. People will see it as a form of flirting with men, and I'm sure you don't want that. (But, nervous mannerisms aside, I'm much less uncongenial to your views than I thought I would be.) Cheers.

That's not true about Russia's Covid death rate. It was was definitely quite low by European standards, only hitting 1k per million people after around a year-and-a-half last July. Things got worse at that point, but it's still—today—only 18th out of 36 European countries (of pop. > 1m). Definitely nowhere near "one of the highest, if not the highest Covid death rate." Absolutely not. (Source: Worldometer) Flubbing the easy factual stuff like that ticks me off.

@markmakallister4653 So? Her Princeton self-satisfaction doesn't do a thing to make Putin any less of a skumbag. Your boy is smugness personified himself. With her smugness she calls him tacky. With his smugness he puts thousands of women and children to death.

Ah, I see the pros are out in force. I like it, actually. It shows they're still afraid of the truth.
